| Problems for your Pets? [home] [next topic] | |
| Due the fact that
fleas won't live in Las Vegas, this is a very comfortable
place for pets. You have to very careful with them in the
heat of the Summer, particularly in making sure they have
access to water, but pests are a minor thing, here. We do have ticks. These things do carry disease and in large numbers can kill dogs and cats. Because of the climate, they're not nearly the problem as moister areas, but they are still here. If the problems arises, the standard treatment is to treat the yard, the inside of the house, including upholstered furniture, and to get the pet to the vet for dipping. My dogs have never had ticks, but we have customers who have. The only other thing that worried me when I moved here about my dogs was heartworms. We had to give them regular doses in Oklahoma, but the vets have told me here, because, if I remember right, heartworms are spread by mosquitoes, and because we don't have hardly any mosquitoes, heartworms aren't a problem. I'd confirm this with a vet, but I think that's right. For more information, go back to the home page and see the next topic. |
